What is Power BI?

Power BI is a business analytics tool developed by Microsoft, designed to transform raw data into meaningful insights. It enables users to visualize and analyze data through dynamic dashboards and interactive reports. This tool is essential for data-driven decision-making, allowing businesses to identify trends, monitor performance, and improve operational outcomes.

How we use Power BI

At d2o, we leverage Power BI to create tailored reports for clients who subscribe to this premium service. Our team specializes in building custom dashboards and visualizations that integrate seamlessly with d2o’s PMI software. These reports are designed to meet the specific needs of hospitality operations, offering clarity and actionable insights.

This includes dedicated dashboards for Center of Excellence (CoE) Analytics, where we highlight strategic KPIs and cross-property benchmarks that support broader decision-making across hotel chains or groups. We also provide F&B Analytics dashboards, called F&B insights, that go beyond the built-in Food Cost Cockpit, offering deeper insights into food and beverage performance using consolidated Power BI reports.

Accessing CoE analytics reports

For clients who have subscribed to the CoE Analytics suite, the dedicated R&P and F&B reports are accessible directly from the main menu in PMI.
Navigate to the bottom of the left-hand menu, under the Administration column, where you’ll find:

  • CoE analytics suite – R&P
  • CoE analytics suite – F&B

These views provide advanced analytics and cross-property insights, tailored for strategic decision-making.

Value delivered to our clients

Power BI reports empower our clients by providing clear and actionable insights into key areas such as:

  • Productivity metrics: Track staff efficiency and output.
  • Financial trends: Monitor revenue, costs, and profitability.
  • Operational performance: Identify bottlenecks and optimize resources.
  • Strategic benchmarking (via CoE Analytics): View performance across multiple properties and align goals.
  • F&B performance: Analyze detailed cost and sales trends beyond what’s available in PMI alone.

These reports are not only informative but also interactive, enabling users to drill down into details and explore specific data points relevant to their goals. Customization options are available to ensure each dashboard aligns perfectly with our customers’ unique requirements.

With Power BI, we help hospitality leaders make informed decisions, optimize operations, and drive success. For more information about PowerBI, please contact support@d2o.com.
