Requirements

Steps

Step 1 – Understand the ‘Setup sources overview’

  1. Open Benchmarking
  2. Select the Productivity display
  3. Open the Tools menu and select Setup sources

In Setup sources, you will see a list of column names and how each productivity value is calculated.

Key points:

  • Each column shows the information used to calculate productivity. More details regarding the setup will be explained when adding a column.
  • When a column is added to be displayed as a consolidated view in Management Perspective but it should be excluded from Benchmarking, set the dataset to Ignore.
  • By default, productivity is calculated as: Cost driver ÷ Hours
  • If Reverse is selected, the calculation becomes: Hours ÷ Cost driver

Step 2 – Add/view a column

  • Select the pencil to edit/open the setup of an existing column.

Step 3 – Add a new column

When adding a new column, you will need to define the following settings

Benchmarking - adding a new column

a. Column name

Select one of the following

  • Left side: Choose a name from the predefined list.
  • Right side: Enter a custom column name.

b. Source hierarchy type

  • Select a Department type* and click on the + sign to add to your selection.
  • You can add more than one type per column/calculation.
  • Choosing a Department type ensures the column can be benchmarked across all properties.

*  Department type is used to group similar departments/cockpits.  Eg.  ‘Restaurant 1’ and Front view Restaurant will both be part of the Department type ‘Restaurant’.  This setup is to ensure that all properties are Benchmarked in the correct groups.

c. Cost driver

Select the cost driver used to calculate productivity. You can choose from:

  • Total property revenue
  • Value points from the selected department types
  • The Primary cost driver from the Cockpit

d. Day offset

  • Define the day offset if required.

Step 4 –  Save the column

  • Select Save/Update button to apply your changes.

Expected outcome

The new column is added to Benchmarking.
It will not be shown in Management Perspective, unless it is added as a consolidated view in Advanced settings. For more details, see the linked article under Cross-references.
